There is a common misconception that as we age, we need to be treated differently and that our lives should somehow be limited. However, aging does not mean that we stop living or that our worth is diminished. Older individuals are still capable of growth, learning, making meaningful contributions to our community, and having FUN. It is possible to age with dignity and grace, while continuing to live independently with full and fulfilling lives.
It is also important to recognize that as we age, we may need additional support. It is natural for our bodies and minds to change as we age, and this can sometimes make it more difficult to perform certain tasks or activities.
Some common concerns for older adults include physical health issues such as decreased mobility, difficulty getting to medical appointments or grocery shopping, social isolation from friends and family, and mental health issues such as depression.
Bethlehem Senior Projects Inc. is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer board of Bethlehem residents. Our mission is to keep older individuals engaged as they age. We support the Town of Bethlehem’s Senior Services Department who serve residents 60+ with adult activity programs, transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and social events, emergency heating, and food for all residents in need via the Bethlehem Food Pantry.
As food prices continue to rise, it is increasingly important to ensure that the Bethlehem Food Pantry has enough resources to provide for all residents. No one should go hungry, and it is our goal to make sure that everyone has access to nutritious food and necessities. Our two biggest fundraising efforts help keep the Bethlehem Food Pantry stocked and purchasing half of the Town’s fleet of Senior vans and cars driven by amazing volunteers.
If you believe in our mission and want to help us continue supporting older adults in our community, we urge you to consider making a donation via our website: BethlehemSeniorProjects.org. If you don't feel your age and want to continue living a vibrant, fulfilling life, we encourage you to reach out to the knowledgeable and caring staff at the Senior Services Department by calling (518) 439-4955 ext.1176.
Together, we can work towards a future where aging is celebrated and respected, and older adults are able to live their best lives.
