Glenmont Roundabout Project Schedule Update
Construction was initially supposed to begin in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic along with property acquisition that took longer than expected has delayed the schedule. Work related to the roundabout this year included final engineering design, tree removal, property acquisition, and some utility pole and overhead wire relocation.
Construction of the Glenmont Roundabout project is now expected to begin Spring 2021. A contractor will be hired during the upcoming winter months and will complete the remaining overhead utility wire relocation. This will include replacement of the existing traffic signal with a temporary traffic signal, which will free up air space for relocation of overhead wires by FirstLight Fiber, Crown Castle Fiber, Charter Communications (Spectrum), and Verizon Communications.
All work is expected to occur during the daytime hours with any work within the travel lanes along Glenmont Road, Feura Bush Road, or Route 9W to occur between 9AM and 3PM. Two-way travel will be maintained at all times.
Roadway construction work will begin in the Spring as the intersection corners will be widened to accommodate the roundabout.
