LGC Nutrition is owned and operated by Lindsey Cumoletti, MS, RDN, CDN who specializes in medical nutrition therapy for chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, and hypertension.
In the United States, more than 14% of our population is suffering from a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease, and nearly 10% of our population is living with diabetes. 1 out of every 3 adults has high blood pressure. Cumoletti’s goal is to put you back in control over your health and body.
Cumoletti began her academic career in nutrition when she was 25, but her passion for medical nutrition therapy started way before that. Growing up in a family with a strong genetic presence of heart disease, there was always an important emphasis on a healthy diet and physical activity. By the time she was a teen, she knew what foods were high in cholesterol, the difference between “healthy fats” and “saturated fats” and she was well on her way to learning just how important proper nutrition is in preventing and treating chronic disease.
She pursued an undergraduate degree in human biology, followed by a post-baccalaureate in Nutritional Sciences and a Master of Science degree in Applied Nutrition. In her first position as a Registered Dietitian was as a Renal Nutrition Specialist in a fast paced dialysis unit. This is where Cumoletti’s passion for medical nutrition therapy evolved into something greater.
As patients came and went and Cumoletti gained knowledge and experience, she discovered that most patients did not know how nutrition plays a role in their disease state. Cumoletti says that nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated and you don’t have to eliminate your favorite foods. Her goal is to help patients understand how food and nutrition affects their bodies, and to provide guidance on how to successfully manage their conditions and slow the progression of their disease through diet.
In the Fall of 2019 Cumoletti opened her own office in Delmar. She accepts insurance, and in addition to individual counseling, she offers Digital Products. She also is available to book for Lunch Lectures and Nutrition Workshops, which are a great way to spread healthy tips and up-to-date nutrition research to employer groups, classes and gyms.
