OUR
SCHOOLS
Bethlehem Central
School District has long been recognized as one of
upstate New York's finest. In 1998, our High School was
named one of the top 100 in the nation by Newsweek
Magazine; more recently, The New York Times ranked three
of our elementary schools among the top 25 in the State,
based on third grade reading scores. Each year, more than
three-quarters of our seniors further their education at
four-year colleges. Curriculum is progressive, as our
schools embrace the importance of technology in learning
and prepare our students to meet the State's new, more
rigorous Regents requirements.
The Bethlehem Schools offer rigorous academic preparation
for college and career bound students. A wide range of
electives in the arts and humanities, sciences and
occupational education allow a program tailored to
individual interests and needs.
Bethlehem's district consists of five elementary schools
(K-5), a Middle School (6-8), and one High School. St. Thomas
Parochial school welcomes both Catholic and non-Catholic
students in grades K-8.
Guilderland Central and
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk also provide education for some students
within the Town of Bethlehem. Private preschools enroll
many children each year in Bethlehem.
Our schools offer a variety of services. There is an
elementary guidance program designed for all students
offering preventative and developmental assistance.
Classroom presentation as well as individual and group
counseling are also available. Students in grades 6-12 are
assigned guidance counselors who administer standardized
tests, and provide academic and personal counseling to
students and their parents. Bus transportation is provided
to all elementary school students and those in grades 6-12
who live a specified distance from their schools.
To insure a well rounded education, the schools offer
numerous opportunities including sports, music, drama,
student government, student publications and clubs for
business students.
