Glenmont Job Corps
Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps economically disadvantaged youths aged 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training - at no cost to them or to their families.The goal of the center is to educate and train the students in academics, technical trades and interpersonal skills and to place them in well-paying jobs.
Glenmont Job Corps is located at 822 River Road in Glenmont.The Center is consistently top rated, usually ranking 1st,2nd or 3rd of 127 Job Corps Centers throughout the USA. Their Academic Department ranks #1 in the country.
There are numerous benefits in joining the Glenmont Job Corps. Each student is paid a living allowance twice a month while participating in the program. However, like a real job, taxes are deducted from this allowance. The center is capable of housing 175 male and 135 female students in two dormitories. Each dorm houses 2- 4 students per room with a bathroom and shower to share, TV rooms, lounges, and vending machines. Students are provided with three free nutritious meals a day in one of the best cafeteria facilities in Job Corps.The Wellness Center is open daily and provides free basic medical, dental, and optometrist services for the students. A 24-hour emergency medical service and programs such as weight management, smoking cessation, and pregnancy prevention are also available.Most students are residential and are on center for an average of 8 months.
Job Corps is committed to offering all students a safe and secure environment.They have a Zero Tolerance for drugs, alcohol, violence or any previous criminal charges.Any student who breaks this policy will be dismissed immediately from Job Corps.

Glenmont Job Corps Center is always seeking opportunities for their students to participate in 4-6 week internships in the local area.Students are trained to industry specific standards and are certified in their areas of study.As interns, students come to the workplace with a positive, professional attitude, ready to apply what they have learned on center in real work day situations.
In addition to career training, Glenmont Job Corps also provides academic training, including basic reading and math. Courses in independent living, employability skills, and social skills are offered in order to help students transition into the workplace.One of the top goals at Glenmont Job Corps is to ensure that every qualified student obtains his or her GED/high school diploma prior to leaving the center. Students who don't already have a high school diploma upon their arrival at Glenmont can enroll in our GED/high school program.
Glenmont Job Corps Center prides itself on giving back to the community whenever possible.The students are available to help out with many kinds of community service projects and regularly volunteer with Albany PAL installation of Holiday Lights, Town of Bethlehem Community Christmas Day Dinner, Town of Bethlehem Spring and Fall clean-ups, Equinox Thanksgiving Dinner, Hudson-Mohawk Humane Society, Jewish Community Center and many other local organizations.
Glenmont Job Corps would like to thank Delaware Plaza for recently partnering with them to offer their Facility Maintenance students the opportunity for 6-Week Work Based Learning opportunities. They would also like to thank the Albany County Residential Health Facility for recently partnering with them to offer their Security, Medical Administrative Assistant, Facility Maintenance and Culinary students the opportunity for 6-Week Work Based Learning opportunities.They are also providing their C.N.A. students the opportunity to do their clinical hours there. Mercato’s Pizzeria & Restaurant has recently announced that they will be offering Glenmont Job Corps Culinary students work based learning opportunities as well.
